The 2010 Video Vacation is a 48 hour video race presented by Texas Filmmakers and held in Denton, TX. Teams of 1 or more will be unleashed on the city at 10PM on April 16th. They will have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short video utilizing four secret elements. All teams will draw an element sheet containing the four elements. Each team will have different elements. Tis means you could draw a romance or a suspense! The videos are then judged, compiled, and screened on April 21st for all your friends and family!

Everyone is welcome to participate. Experience and equipment is not necessary!*

Complete Rules:

1. Everyone is eligible.
2. Registration is $75 (non-refundable) per team. You can have as many people on your team as you want; however you must provide the name of each teammate at check-in on April 16th. If you cannot register online. Contact Texas Filmmakers at 888-893-4560 to setup other arrangements.
3. Only the Team Captain should register for the team.
4. Each team will be given one Sony miniDV tape.
5. The race will begin at Big Mike's Coffee House (info below) Friday night at 10PM. Just prior to kick-off, each team will draw an “element sheet” which will have a theme, a location, a prop, and a line of dialogue. Each element must be used at some point in your video.
6. Videos must be between four and eight minutes.
7. Each team must submit their completed video by Sunday night at 10PM at the Texas Filmmakers office at 405 S. Elm St., Suite 102, Denton, X, 76201. Videos will be accepted on miniDV tape, or we will also accept a digital file either .mov or .avi. The file MUST be Standard Definition with a resolution of 720x480 FULL RESOLUTION. That means you should use the Apple DV codec if on a mac and the Microsoft DV AVI if on a PC. If you vdeo is widescreen, please DO NOT letterbox. Please use anamorphic 16x9. If you do not knwo what that is please ask.
8. Each video must only contain material shot during the race. All use of previously shot video is strictly prohibited and will warrant immediate disqualification from the race.
9. Each video submitted by Sunday at 10PM will be eligible for the first place cash prize. The cash prizes are handled tournament-style and will vary in size depending on the total number of registrants. The videos will be judged by an independent, local panel and the winners will be announced at the screening Wednesday night.
10. All completed videos will be screened on Wednesday evening, April 21st, at Golden Triangle Mall Theater at 8:00PM. Admission is FREE.

*All teams will need two pieces of equipment: a camera, and a computer with editing software. If your team doesn't have one or both of these items, Texas Filmmakers will make every attempt to pair you with others who have the necessary equipment. This promotes collaboration and ensures you make new relationships over the weekend. During the registration process, you will be asked what equipment your team has available.
